WE LOVE IT HERE, YOU WILL TOO!

Born in the small fishing village of El Transito, Nicaragua in 2012, the company opened as an all-inclusive surf camp with handpicked activities along with surfing, yoga, and volunteering. The goal was to deliver an authentic and safe experience in Nicaragua while enabling guests to expand personal knowledge through cultural experiences like historic city tours and community volunteering.

As more people learned about El Transito, backpackers traveling through Central America and locals looking for a beach escape started to arrive at our doorstep looking for a place to stay. So we expanded SOLID to include dorm style packages and bed and breakfast options in two adjacent properties. 

In 2018, we were forced to re-imagine our model and opted to consolidate into our best looking property with varied options that would fit all of our guests’ needs (which we should have done earlier!).  We were fortunate to then be able to hold on through the pandemic and welcome travelers to once again become part of our story. We hope we will continue to serve visitors to this wonderful town, enabling them to meet all of the lovely people, and add to the total community experience. 

Along the way we taught many of the first surfers in El Transito (some of who are now the best surfers in the water!) and believe it is our responsibility to grow alongside our community. Our on-site team and managers are Nicaraguan, and we only take volunteers for roles that can’t be provided by locals in our community (for instance, yoga instructor – not that we haven’t tried!).
