OUR STORY
OPEN SINCE 2012, WE ARE THE PIONEERS OF TOURISM IN EL TRANSITO, NICARAGUA, SETTING AN EXAMPLE FOR HOW BUSINESSES AND COMMUNITY CAN WORK TOGETHER.
Born in the small fishing village of El Transito, Nicaragua in 2012, the the company opened as an all-inclusive surf camp with handpicked activities that delivered an authentic and safe experience in Nicaragua while enabling guests to expand personal knowledge through cultural experiences like historic city tours and community volunteering.
As more people learned about El Transito, backpackers traveling through Central America and locals looking for a beach escape started arriving at our doorstep. Thus, SOLID expanded to include dorm style packages and bed and breakfast options in two adjacent properties.
In 2018, we were forced to re-think our model and opted to consolidate into our best looking property with varied options that would fit all of our guests’ needs (which we should have done earlier!). We were fortunate to be able to hold on through the pandemic and and welcome you to become part of our story by visiting this wonderful town, meeting all of its lovely people, and adding to the community experience.

MEET THE FOUNDERS
SOLIDO Surfeo y Aventura Nicaragua, SA was created as an independently owned and operated in market tour operations company alongside SOLID Surf & Adventure LLC who provides marketing, distribution and financial assistance to its Nicaraguan counterpart through an exclusive operating agreement.
Jonathan Ocanto
Founder & President | SOLID Surfeo y Aventura S.A.
A bi-lingual American-Venezuelan EMT/ firefighter/Ocean Rescue officer whose passion for tourism and surfing led him to Nicaragua, working as a surf guide in 2010. While exploring the coastline, Jhon stumbled upon the gem of El Transito and yearned to start his own surf camp rooted in community involvement - which came to be SOLID.
Currently studying to become a Paramedic while working as a state certified EMT/Firefighter in New Jersey.
Allison (Kendro) Ocanto
Founder & CEO | SOLID Surf & Adventure LLC.
An internationally-accomplished marketing professional that lived in NYC working on fortune 500 companies, who visited El Transito on a surf trip in 2011. As a surfer since age 9, Allison saw the opportunity to mix her passion with business, founding SOLID in 2012, and beginning her journey as an entrepreneur.
Since opening SOLID, she has built two additional businesses, and now is Group Planning Director for an Advertising agency in Philadelphia.
