EXPERIENCE

Activities for everyone in your group to enjoy.

LOCAL ACTIVITIES

Explore the town of El Transito by going on a fishing trip, visiting tide pools, taking a short hike at sunset, or volunteering and meeting the local community.

ADVENTURE TRIPS

Need a break from the beach? Join us for an Adventure City Tour to Leon, Masaya, or Granada and hike one of the many volcanos that Nicaragua is known for.

SURFING

Surfing is what brings many of our guests to Nicaragua, and more specifically, to our town of El Transito. We have 4 breaks within a mile stretch right in front of the property, that break at both low and high tide and have waves for every surfing level. Surfing not your thing? No worries! We offer other activities for non-surfers as well!

FISHING

Join the locals on a panga boat ride to fish the local waters. The most common fish are red and white snapper, mackerel, jack crevalle, tuna - blackfin and white (albacore), rooster fish among others. You can also troll on the way to surf Punta Miramar or Puerto Sandino (45 min. ride), making the most of this boat trip!

VOLUNTEERING

Get to know the community by giving back. Volunteer activities include serving meals at the local school, providing assistance at the local medical clinic, volunteering in the art center, helping clean up the beach/town, and teaching English, surfing, or yoga to women and kids in the community.

* Some activities are dependent on season, so please let us know your interests and we will be sure to find and/or create an activity for you during your stay.

TIDE POOL EXPLORING

Explore natures beauty by taking a walk to one of the many tide pools in the area. There are different kinds to experience; some shallow, some deep, some on top of rocks, some embedded into the sand, and some that might just knock you away!

SUNSET HIKING

See the full beauty of El Transito by hiking up the hill that is the prominent feature of the El Transito skyline. Make sure to bring sneakers as it's a pretty steep, though short climb to the top. It's also a great spot to enjoy a beverage!

LEON/CERRO NEGRO

The most talked about adventure to do in Nicaragua is sand boarding down the active volcano, Cerro Negro. This combined with dinner in the colonial city of Leon is a must-do trip while visiting Nicaragua. Not a fan of hiking? Skip the volcano and instead go straight to the city of Leon where you can check out the Cathedral, central square, History Museum, Museum of Myths and Legends, visit one of the only surf shops in the country (Get Up Stand Up), and get some great food!

LEON / RUM FACTORY

More into fine spirits than hiking? Tour the famous Flor de Caña Rum factory. Flor de Caña is world-class, not only awarded "Best Rum Producer of the Year" by the International Wine and Spirit Competition in 2017 but also honored with the "Distillery Sustainability Award" and the "Ethical Award" during The Spirits Business Awards in 2021.

GRANADA / MOMBACHO

Visit the beautiful city of Granada where you can check out the Cathedral, central square, Art Gallery, Chocolate Museum, a cafe that has the largest hammock in Nicaragua (Cafe de las Sonrisas), enjoy a wonderful meal or get a massage (Mansion de Chocolate). Combine with Zip Lining or hiking the dormant volcano, Mombacho.

MASAYA / MASAYA

Visit the city of Masaya where you can check out the local market or enjoy a great dinner. Combine with a short museum tour, a drink or two overlooking volcano vegetation, and a drive up Masaya Volcano where you can see (and hear!) lava bubbling at night.

Note: You can also visit Masaya volcano in the day to see the smoke and sulfer that it expels. This trip doesn't require any hiking.

LAGUNA DE APOYO

Over 20,000 years ago, Apoyo volcano's cone imploded and created a huge crater that filled with both rain and subterranean water over time. Visit the lagoon for relaxation, a nice swim, and some lunch. Or, if you'd rather look at it from above, take a horseback ride and have dinner overlooking the crater.
